About our Services to TIAA-CREF Participants

Jim Reardon, J.D.,CFP has been providing fee based portfolio advisory services to TIAA-CREF participants since 2001. We are an independent investment advisory firm that is not employed by or affiliated with TIAA-CREF or the institutions served by these companies.  We are not endorsed or compensated by them. 

TIAA-CREF recognizes the importance of indepentend investment advisors to their participants.  The TIAA-CREF prospectus now contains language to permit advisory services and TIAA-CREF maintains a website and call center for supported independent advisors.  Support of investment advisors is reserved by TIAA-CREF.  Retired clients and those whose institutions have authorized fee-billing may arrange to have our services compensated from TIAA-CREF fund accounts. 

TIAA-CREF has recently expanded its IRA rollover services to former teachers, hospital employees, government employees and others.  Family members of TIAA CREF participants are entitled to participate in TIAA-CREF IRAs as well. Kansas Regents school participants have special state tax treatment benefits for their 403 b plans.  Special tax rules apply to clients whose contributions were made to TIAA-CREF prior to 1987.  TIAA assets should not be rolled over to an IRA without a thorough understanding of these tax issues.
